A Blessed Day

I am as happy as a clam!  I am spending time with family at the Emerald Coast in Florida.  I was born here and spent many of my younger years here.  I am definitely a beach baby, having spent most of my childhood at the beach.

I am so happy when I come back to the beach, that I cannot even describe it to you.  I wish I could bottle the experience and take it with me where ever I go.  The sound of the waves, the smell of the salt water and sunscreen, the cool misty breeze off the water, the warmth of the sun, the pelicans and seagulls, the sight of the beautiful blue-green water, sand dunes, and white sands ... yes, yes, I know I am going on and on, but I love it all.  On top of all of that, whenever I spend time at the beach, it brings back so many memories I have as a child.

We are also visiting extended family.  My grandmother (Memaw), who taught me to quilt, lives here.  So I thought I would share with you a couple of the quilts that she has made for me.

This is a wedding ring quilt that she made for my husband and I when we were married 10 years ago.  We just celebrated our anniversary on Friday.

This is a beautiful quilt.  She made it with many shades of green because it is my favorite color.  It is a large quilt that will fit a king size bed.  I love this quilt and cherish all the work she has put into it.  She only hand pieces and hand quilts.  The quilts she makes are made entirely by hand.

This quilt she made for my daughter.  It is a baby sized wedding ring quilt made with 30's reproduction fabrics.  The fabrics make it such a sweet little quilt for a baby.

Today has been a wonderful day.  I spent the early part of the day at the beach with my family and the evening visiting with my Memaw.  We talked about quilts and family history while I worked on one of my quilts.  I feel very blessed.

Thank you for visiting!
