The Half Moon Modern Quilt is underway. I just cannot begin to explain how excited I am about this quilt! I came up with the design for it months ago and have been patiently waiting for the right time to make it.
It will be a quilt of half-square triangles using the quick-pieced method. I started stitching some of the squares and trimmed them up to 4.5" squares.
I plan on using all of the colors from the collection, but I love how the green, orange, grey, and soft white look together. The white I am using is Robert Kaufman's Kona Cotton in Snow and it matches the white in the collection nicely. I will have to bookmark this color combination for a future project!

Note the line down the center of the square on the sewing machine. I used a hera marker to mark the lines on all my squares. This tool is amazing. If you are not familiar with it, it basically creases the fabric to leave a line. It is very easy to use (don't have to press hard) and you do not have to worry about disappearing ink that doesn't always disappear or washing out a mark. It is perfect for marking straight lines.
As I got up to take the sewing machine picture, look who immediately jumped in my seat...
You know Artemis is thinking, "Do you mind?"
As soon as I get him out of my seat, I will get back to work. I promise he will not give up the chair easily. This cat has a mind of his own!
What project are you working on this week (and do you have a furry friend keeping you from working on it)?
Happy sewing!

I had to laugh at Artemis. I used to have a dog that would always jump into my chair as soon as I got up - he didn't like to move, either. I'm looking forward to seeing your new quilt come together - the colors are great!
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait to see the new quilt! Love your cats, makes me miss mine.
ReplyDeletePretty - can't wait to see this all sewn up. I use my hera marker for my HST as well :)
ReplyDeleteI need to watch for sales at Hancock Fabrics .. what wonderful deals you picked up. I just finished the top for my 4th of July wall hanging. I'm now piecing different fabric from the front for the back. Then I'll tuck it away until I have time to machine quilt it.
ReplyDeleteArtemis is such a nut.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors!
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful and I agree the colors are really pretty. I can't wait to see it in the next phase of assembly!
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to this line! Your quilt is going to be awesome :) My cat does the same thing.
