I received a custom order for a large number of mug rugs. So I quickly got to work and have been busy pulling fabrics and playing with different combinations. Mug rugs are a great way to test out fabric combinations before using them in larger projects.

More Flea Market Fancy! I love the aqua, red and grey together. I like to find fun fabrics that I can fussy cut like these large flower clusters which are great for mug rugs.

This process goes a whole lot quicker if you set up an assembly line. Cut all the pieces for each one, sew up the tops, press the tops and backs, pin each one together, sew them up, add all the bindings, and you're all done! Of course it is a little more time consuming than that, but you get the idea.

These are pinned up and ready for stitching.

I am not sure which one is my favorite. It is a toss up between the two in the middle (green, grey and teal and the yellow, grey and soft blue).

More flower bundles... these are so pretty and are from the Millie's Closet collection.
I am excited to see how all of these turn out. Stay tuned for more.

ReplyDeleteAssembly line is definitely the way to go on projects likes this. I made a bunch of card holders a few weeks ago and it went so much faster that way. It was fun pulling out fabrics that went together.
ReplyDeleteI'm really diggin the yellow/grey/blue/white one. Such an appealing colour combo that I'd never have thought of!
