Blogger's Quilt Festival

I am so excited to get to participate in the Blogger's Quilt Festival this year, hosted by Amy at Amy's Creative Side.  A big thank you to Amy for putting it all together!

The quilt I am entering is my Rose Quilt.  I absolutely love this quilt.  I love roses and grow several antique varieties (one of which you can view in the collage at the end of this post).

I ordered a yard or two of Sugar Hill Falling Roses in white/pink and when I received it in the mail, I fell in love!  I knew I had to make a quilt around this fabric.  I decided to fussy cut the roses into squares and then built the quilt around them.  (I am using the same pattern to make the current quilt I am working on which you can view here:  Reunion - Pieces and Placement and Reunion continues...

I also used it as the fabric for the binding.  I love how the roses look against all the other fabrics.  They add a splash of color along the edges.

When I look at this quilt, I get the sudden urge to have a picnic in the park on a lazy summer day enjoying the sun, the trees and the breeze.  I am not ready for the winter.

This quilt is reversible.  The back is made of 12" by 12" blocks in a random pattern except for a row of the green/pink zig zags on the left side.

It is quilted 1/4" above and below each horizontal seam.  Instead of stitching through each rose square, I turned the seam to outline it.
The Blogger's Quilt Festival is a great place to view a lot of wonderful and creative quilts.  Please go check it out and visit some of the entries.  I am so excited to get to participate this year.

You can find the pattern to make this quilt here on my Etsy site.

Have a great day!
