For the Birds Update

The week has been slow going as far as quilting is concerned.  My current status on this quilt... basted and partially quilted... as you can discern from the picture above.

As many of you are aware, we recently moved into a new home, but it needs a few touch ups.  So this week most of my time has been consumed by making curtains (which I am not a fan of), putting up new window blinds and painting walls.  We are trying to get all the big projects completed before school starts.

I did take a break or two from the curtain sewing to make a little progress on my quilt.  You would think that since sewing curtains is a sewing project, that I would enjoy it, but I don't.  Curtains make me so apprehensive, but it never fails that I cannot find them pre-made in the right size or fabric that I like.  So I always end up making them.

The quilting is halfway completed and the binding is waiting on me to get finished.  I am just going to keep truckin' it along with my house projects and can't wait to get back to a regular quilt schedule.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. This is so cute! I'm also lazy with curtains, should make two curtains shorter but ... there is always something more fun to sew. I wonder what's the tool you have in the 2nd photo. x Teje

  6. I need to make curtains for a few rooms in my home. I bought the fabric for dining room curtains and even found a pattern online but haven't made them yet. I'd love to see a post of your curtains when they are done.

  8. I feel your 'sewing curtains' pain! I was 'offered' by a friend to make curtains for her 'because you love to sew and I knew you would want to"...um...NOT! NOT! NOT! Here is my reply : Asking a quilter to sew curtains (sew on buttons, alter your jeans, you pick your poison!),is like asking Michelangelo to paint your garage! (but thanks for thinking of me! lolol). I try try try to find something I can remake into what I need. When we moved in this house, I did shutters on all the windows that face the street...and cornices above blinds elsewhere. not one curtain!

Love you quilt colors. So summery and bright!

  12. This quilt is lovely. Would love to see your curtains too. I would love some new curtains...there are so many yards of them. We are in the middle of winter here so the curtains are not at their best. Maybe a spring project for me. Have a great day!
